1. Waste Treatment System and Lagoon

Waste Treatment Plans Update 2007-2008

To the right you can follow the process as we installed our septic tank/ pump chamber. This was completed this summer and fall (2007).

We were overjoyed to find out that we don't have to use lagoons to pump into. Rather we have permission to create a raised drain field instead. Once in place, the top surface can be used as a grass playing field as well. We are still waiting on the final plans for this so that costs can be established.

In the beginning of December we had an excavator delivered on site to stock pile all the logging debris for burning and prepare a landing to stock pile washed sand. We need to wait for the venting index to rise so we can burn the piles. The sand has been ordered and it should be delivered soon. Once we stock pile the sand, we hope to get an early start on the field in spring 2008.

As we look to the Lord to provide for this next phase, the following are the estimates for the various components:

bullet

Sand: $6000.00

bullet

Pump lines: $2000.00 to $4000.00

bullet

Man Holes: $2000.00

bullet

Pumps & Timbers: $10,000.00

bullet

Trenching: $4000.00

bullet

Field piping: $2000.00

bullet

Engineering: $3000.00

Where Do They Put It All!

(First published May 2006)
It’s the last thing you think of in this wilderness setting! When you drive onto the pristine grounds of Lake of the Trees Bible camp, the last thing you ask yourself is, ‘where do they put all their waste?’

Three years ago, the camp board had to answer that question. With a new dining hall and a growing facility, they had to face the need for a sewage disposal system that would not only meet their need but anticipate future expansion. In the last week of March 2006, God orchestrated just what they needed.

They considered a tract of crown land adjacent to the camp. After many months of work, the Lord orchestrated permission to lease 10 acres of crown land across the road from the camp - a flat area off site from the camp itself. “God has provided for all the financial costs every step of the way,” Tom McIntosh commented. “The costs of all the soil testing, planning, engineering, and drawings have been provided for through many donations of time and money.

The answer to the question we began with will go like this when the project is completed. Sewage will be collected in large holding tanks on site, then pumped to a treatment lagoon across the road and, after a year sent to storage lagoons. The final water left after a second year will be then clean enough to be used to irrigate the surrounding forest.

All this takes space which the Lord has provided for on the 10 acre site. Now the work can begin on the massive excavation and construction to complete the project.

Pray for God’s provision to complete this project and ensure the future growth of God’s Kingdom through the ministry of Lake of the Trees Bible Camp here in the 100 Mile House area.

Other Projects at Lake of the Trees Camp

2. New Bunk Beds (COMPLETED Spring 2004)

Lake of the Trees Bible Camp has raised enough funds to purchase much needed mattresses for their camper cabins. 49 new bunk beds must now be build to accommodate the new mattresses.

3. New Benches (COMPLETED Spring 2007)

The new dining hall was finally complete last summer. Regrettably, they still had to use the old benches from the previous dining hall (with nails poking out). 40 new benches must be built to go around all the tables by the time the campers arrive at the end of June.

4. New Windows

Another part of renovating the old cabins is to install new windows (not exactly as shown).

5. Water Slide Installed

A 90 foot water slide was donated to the camp (not exactly a shown). It will be installed on the shore of the lake. A structure needs to be constructed to support the slide and provide safe access.

To volunteer your services or supplies to help in these projects, please contact Tom McIntosh by email or call (250)791-5502.
