Estevan Bible Camp (EBC) is searching for a person to fill the position of camp director. EBC operates as one of the 11 Canadian Sunday School Mission (CSSM) camps in Saskatchewan, whose mission is: “To present and promote the gospel, evangelize the lost, and disciple the converted”. As a camp director you will be employed as a part-time CSSM missionary, report to a board of directors, and be responsible for managing the operations of the camp. The duties will include planning, organizing, leading and directing all aspects of EBC including: activities of camps, CSSM obligations, camper follow-up and camp promotion.
EBC is situated two miles south of the City of Estevan in the Woodlawn Regional Park. Facilities of the camp include 8 cabins, speaker’s and director’s cabins, and a dining hall. The camp runs for three weeks in July and includes a Squirt Camp, Junior Camp, Teen Camp and Family Camp. The camp averages about 120 children each year but can accommodate 160. The camp is supported by a number of churches from the city and surrounding community.
Key responsibilities for the position include:
- Reporting to a board of directors, direct all aspects of the camp in accordance with CSSM’s mission, vision, values and guidelines.
- Ensure the practical application of the concept of a Christ-centered camp by seeing that a clear gospel message is communicated to every camper
- Direct and manage camp operations
- Complete staffing actions, including hiring, training, coaching, and disciplining
- Communicate effectively with campers, staff, board members, volunteers and community churches
- Establish and maintain working relationships with pastors and youth leaders within the community by visiting partnering or interested churches to report on the progress of the ministry and to recruit prayer and financial partners
- Recruit campers from within and outside of the church population
- Initiate and maintain camper communication and follow-up program
- Attend missions and camping conferences as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Have a passion for camp ministry
- Have a passion to see life transformation
- Comply with the principles and practices of the Canadian Sunday School Mission
- Have experience, skills and training in camping and/or children and youth ministry
- Demonstrate leadership qualities, good communication skills and maturity in decision-making
Related Information:
- Seasonal accommodation is provided at the camp. Off season residency is expected to be within the community, preferably relatively close to the camp
- As a CSSM missionary, you will be expected to help to raise your salary through missionary support by the end of the first year of employment
